$4.7 Billion Awarded to Women Who Sued on Johnson & Johnson Baby Powder

The recent news came up from the United States where the St. Louis jury awarded $4.7 billion to 22 women who sued the talcum powder of Johnson & Johnson baby.

 

 

Women sued on the company. Stated that the talcum powder of the company includes asbestos. They claimed that the use of this talcum powder causes cancer.

St. Louis Jury on Friday decides on behalf of 22 women. The jury agreed to award all 22 women with $4.7 billion. A few days back jury also awarded USD 550 million to all the women for the consent of compensatory damage. The compensatory money was provided after the six-week trial conducted by the St. Louis court.

Statement of Carol Goodrich

Carol Goodrich who is the spokesperson of Johnson & Johnson Baby said, the lawsuit which the women imposed on the company is unfair. The lawsuit was an unfair process in which the case was filed in Missouri. The fact is most of the women who sued against the company is not even the part of this state.

We are still having a lot of faith and trust in our product. Company’s talcum powder does not contain asbestos which causes ovarian cancer.

Statement of Mark Lanier

Mark Lanier who is the lead counsel of the Plaintiffs said, The company makes all the procedure transparent so that their evidence may be covered up. The fact is they are using asbestos in their talcum powder from the last 40 years.

 

 

He also stated that, the trial which was conducted by the court in which medical experts found that, asbestos which is the known Carconogern in intermixed in their talc. Experts also tested the other product line of the company.

Lawyers for the Plaintiff said that the particles of asbestos and talc were found in the tissues of the women while medical.

Johnson & Johnson baby has sued by more than 9000 women of the state by claiming asbestos in the talc powder that causes ovarian cancer. Apart from this six women in the trail was died due to ovarian cancer.

 

 

One of the women who was died due to ovarian cancer said earlier that, she was suffering from the stage 3 of ovarian cancer due to use of talc powder from last few decades.
