After suffering a heavy 333-run defeat in the first Test, India needed to make a strong start in the ongoing second Test against Australia. After winning the toss India chooses to bat.

The hosts suffered a huge setback even before the match started as Murali Vijay was ruled out of the clash after he suffered an injury. The match did not start on a get note either as Vijay’s replacement, Abhinav Mukund, who was making his comeback in the Indian team after five years, was dismissed for an eight-ball duck within the first 15 minutes.
