Vicar Accidentally Sets Arm On Fire While Recording Online Sermon
A vicar was left in shock after he accidentally set his arm on fire while he was recording an online sermon for the people that are practicing self-isolation.
Reverend Stephen Beach was performing the service online as people across the United Kingdom stayed at home to stop the virus from spreading any further.
In the video, the vicar of the St Budeaux Parish Church in Plymouth had his jumper set on fire.
The incident happened as Stephen leaned over some candles.
In the video, the 61-year-old could be heard saying “Oh dear, I just caught fire.”
The good thing is that Reverend Stephen did not sustain any serious injuries from the incident.
During an interview, the reverend said, “I just felt my arm getting a bit hot.”
He added, “The nice thing is, it did damage my pullover and my shirt but my arm is fine – there’s no burn on my arm.”
Both the Church of England and the Church of Scotland have asked churches all over the countries to stop mass worshiping.
Instead of holding actual masses, the churches were advised to hold their services on social media platforms.
Catholic churches are also encouraging people to maintain social distancing and stay at home due to the spread of the virus.
The reverend was filming for his online sermon classes when he accidentally caught his arm on fire.
Recalling the incident, the reverend said, “The whole thing is a bit surreal – there’s never been a time where we’ve deliberately not gone to Sunday worship, so that’s very strange. I’ve never phoned so many people really, because normally you go and visit people.”
After the incident happened, Beach said that he and other vicars joked about what happened.
He even said that he was on fire for Jesus.
