Homeless Man Who Saved Dogs And Cats From Burning Shelter Awarded Home For Heroic Act

A homeless man who risked their own life to save dogs from a burning building have been awarded a home for their heroic act.

The homeless man was brought into a housing and support program after they managed to rescue all dogs and cats from a building that was burning.

Keith Walker, from America, won praise all over the internet for entering a burning animal shelter to save the lives of 16 cats and dogs, including his own pet dog that was inside the animal shelter at he time.

A local charity gave him a place to live and enrolled him in a training program where he will be developing life skills for doing such an amazing act.

Georgia Works, an organization in Atlanta, offered their help on social media.

A GoFundMe page has also been set up to support him.

Darlene Schultz, the CEO of Georgia Works!, released a statement about Keith to TMZ.

They said:

Keith is slated to enter her program. The goal is to make him a self-sufficient person … and that includes teaching him occupational skills and money management.

Anyone that is helped by the charity are placed in their housing facility.

People are allowed to stay there for up to 1 year.

The official website of Georgia Works! says:

All participants renounce dependency and remain drug and alcohol free. Personal support, case management, and workforce training is offered throughout the program. We also provide AA/NA Classes, GED classes, support in obtaining a driver’s licenses, help setting up a bank account, and life skill preparation courses.

Talking about their heroic act, Keith said:

I was nervous as hell, I’m not going to lie. I was really scared to go in there with all that smoke. But God put me there to save those animals. If you love a dog, you can love anyone in the world. My dog is my best friend, and I wouldn’t be here without him, so I knew I had to save all those other dogs.
