Indonesia Locks Coronavirus Lockdown Breakers In Haunted Houses As Punishment

Lawmakers in the Sragen region of Indonesia have come up with a hilarious yet very effective way to deal with the coronavirus lockdown breakers.

Authorities in the Sragen region are now confining quarantine violators inside abandoned buildings on the island of Java, which people believe that are haunted.

The measure is part of the country’s plan to motivate the superstitious citizens of the country to believe in the lockdown measures.

If science fails, treat them with their own medicine. Classy move.

Kusdinar Untung Yuni Sukowati, regency head of Sragen, announced the order last week.

The order was placed in place during the time when visitors of Java were not self-isolating for 14 days upon their arrival.

Sukowati said:

“If they disobey self-isolation [orders], several villages have asked for my permission to quarantine them in an abandoned elementary school or abandoned houses. I gave my permission. If need be, they should be locked inside — in a haunted house if necessary. But we’d still feed them and monitor them.”

According to reports, 5 people have been quarantined in abandoned houses until now.

She added:

“If there’s an empty and haunted house in the village, put people in there and lock them up.”

An abandoned house in the rice fields of Plupuh was used to house 2 people that were caught breaking the lockdown rules of the region.

The 2 people were placed inside the house, which was locked from the outside.

If everyone stays inside their houses, no one will have to spend time inside houses.

Well, this has to be one of the most unique ways to stop people from going outside.
