#MeToo: Top Actress Registers Rape Case Against Aditya Pancholi In Mumbai
On June 27, 2019, the Mumbai Police registered a rape case against Aditya Pancholi, a Bollywood actor and Producer, that was filed by an actress, who is yet to be named.
DCP Manjunath Singhe, the spokesperson of the Mumbai Police, confirmed the charges against the actor.
According to the complaint that was registered, the rape happened 10 years ago.
The complaint also mentioned that the actress was raped by the actor on a number of occasions and was forced into a relationship with him.
The woman claimed that Pancholi sedated her on a number of occasions and even took videos and pictures of her without her consent.
The woman also alleged that Pancholi beat her up and jailed her inside his house whenever she tried to file a complaint to the police.
The woman adds that Pancholi demanded Rs. 1 crore from her so he will not show her nude photographs and videos to her friends and family members. The woman said that she paid Rs. 50 lakhs to him.
The Suburban Police Station registered the FIR against Pancholi under the Indian Penal Code 376 which is for rape, 323 which is for assault, 328 which is for causing hurt by means of poison, 506 which is for criminal intimidation, and 384 which is for extortion.
During an interview with PTI, Pancholi said, “It is a false rape case that they were planning and now they have done it. I was anticipating this. This was pre-planned as I had filed a defamation case against them.”
He added, “It is not a small allegation, the law will take its course, I will fight out… the truth will come out.”
Aditya claims that he has been involved in an implicated false case.
The police have launched an investigation for the claims of the actress.
