Xiaomi Announced Mi Pad 2 Tablet that runs Windows 10 OS Alongside Redmi Note 3

The Chinese tech firm Xiaomi has unveiled three new products at the Event which was held China National Convention Center in Beijing. Xiaomi has announced three new gadgets that include a best budget smartphone with solid specs, the Redmi Note 3, which is the successor to its Redmi Note 2 budget phablet, the Mi Air Purifier and a Mi Pad 2 tablet that mostly looks like an iPad mini. Xiaomi has announced the Mi Pad 2 that runs Windows 10 operating system along with the company’s MIUI Android fork.

The company is expected to launch the new Mi Pad 2 by the end of this year in China. The Mi Pad 2 is almost similar to its predecessor that shares design notes with Apple devices. The new Mi Pad 2 has an all-metal construction that’s much more similar to the iPad mini. But, the original Mi Pad had a colorful plastic casing. Xiaomi says that the Mi Pad 2 is lighter and thinner than the first-generation Mi Pad. Here are the complete specs of the upcoming Mi Pad 2 tablet.

Specifications

The Mi Pad 2 comes with an all-aluminum body that is only 6.95mm compared to the 8.5mm of the previous model. The tablet weighs 322 gm compared to 360 gm of its predecessor. The device features a 7.90-inch display with a screen resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels at a PPI of 326 pixels per inch. The Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 is powered by 1.44GHz quad-core Intel Atom x5-Z8500 processor paired with 2GB RAM. The processor of the new model replaces the NVIDIA Tegra K1 on the predecessor.

In terms of storage, the tablet packs 16GB or 64GB of internal storage which cannot be further expandable. The tablet also comes with a reversible USB Type-C port. On the Camera front, the device is equipped with an 8-megapixel primary camera on the rear and a 5-megapixel front shooter for selfies. The company claims that the Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 runs Windows 10 operating system. The device  also supports Wi-Fi 802.11ac and it is packed with a smaller 6190mAh battery when compared to the 6700mAh on the preceding model.

The MiPad 2 sports a unique mode that cuts down blue light emanating from the screen in order to facilitate comfortable reading. Also, this special mode eases eye strain during long-term viewing. The Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 will be available in two color options: Dark grey and Champagne Gold.

Price

The Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 is available in two storage variants such as 16GB and the 64 GB variant. The 16GB model is priced at RMB 999 ($156) while the 64GB model is priced at RMB 1299 ($203). The 16GB variant of Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 is expected to be available in China from November 27th. The Windows 10 version of the device will only be available with 64GB of storage and will go on sale in late December.

Earlier, rumors spread the news that the Xiaomi’s new tablet would dual-boot Windows 10 and Android. But, as of now, this is not the case while the users will be provided with an option to choose between Google and Microsoft’s operating systems.
