31-Year-Old Prisoner In California Jail Accused Of Beheading Cellmate And Removing His Body Parts
31-year-old Jaime Osuna, an inmate in a jail in California is accused of beheading his cellmate and removing his body parts in cell slaying.
The 31-year-old is being accused of attacking his cellmate, Luis Romero inside a jail in California, officials said that he attached a sharp object to a makeshift handle and wrapped it in a string.
44-year-old Romero was found dead inside his jail cell at the Corcoran State Prison on March 9, officials she attained “Multiple sharp force trauma injuries”.
The head of Romero was removed, so was his finger, one of his eyes, and a part of his lung.
The report of the pathologist said that Romero was alive for some time when he was being killed.
His dead body was found by prison guards during a routine security check in the morning.
Phil Esbenshade, the Assistant District Attorney of the Kings Country said, “This is probably the most unusual and gruesome case that I’ve had in my career. At this point, we intend to prosecute him pursuant to the complaint, put it in front of a jury.”
He also added that they are not going to make any deals or offers.
31-year-old Jaime Osuna is currently serving life in prison without parole for torturing and murdering Yvette Pena, a mother of 6 who was 37-years-old.
In a plea deal in 2017, the 31-year-old admitted that he killed her inside a motel room in 2011.
Osuna could now face death penalty, as the recent killing is being described as “’especially heinous, atrocious, or cruel, manifesting exceptional depravity’.
When he was presented in a court, he denied the other charges and the murder.
31-year-old Jaime Osuna has been relocated in a different jail, a jail that is for inmates that are in need of mental health care.
Romero has been in prison since 1992, he was convicted of second degree murder, Romero was serving life imprisonment with a possibility of parole.
Osuna will be presented in a court in June for a preliminary hearing, the 31-year-old is also other charges, including an incident where he allegedly threw blood at a correctional officer.
