Basanth Panchami is one of the most celebrated days for Hindus. This day is also celebrated n Nepal and some other countries with ease and enthusiasm. Basanth Panchami is also called as Vasanth Panchami which is the fifth day of the spring season.

On this day goddess, Saraswathi is worshipped on this day and celebrate the day as Sarawathi Puja. Children mostly worship goddess Saraswathi on this day for knowledge and wisdom. This day is celebrated across India in many ways.

In West Bengal men and women, boys and girls are seen in yellow attire in their traditional dresses. Experts also say that Saraswathi puja should be performed during Purvahna Kala which is the time between sunrise and midday.

Schools and Colleges also celebrate this festival wearing new clothes. Students and teachers pray the goddess of knowledge. They organize various programs like singing and dance etc.

Rajasthan people wear jasmine garlands on this day and Punjab people fly kites on Vasanth Panchami. In Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Chattisgarh, and Uttar Pradesh people worship Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvathi and offer mango flowers and wheat on this day.

Basanth Panchami falls on 22nd January this year.
