On the 11th lunar day (Ekadashi Tithi) of the Shukla Paksha (waxing moon phase) in the Hindu Calendar month Kartika which in the Gregorian calendar falls in October or November. It is believed that on this auspicious day, Lord Vishnu awakens from four months of sleep, after having slept on Devshayani Ekadashi. The Prabodhini Ekadashi day marks the end of Chaturmas.
