Medical technology has made childbirth a much safer experience over the past century for both mother and baby. Hospitals have responded to trends in childbirth, such as the need for a more home-like environment in the hospital. An easy birth and a perfectly executed birth plan are ideal. But we know that even the most carefully planned birth can take twists and turns.

Here we have Dr. Fernando Guedes da Cunha who is known as ‘Dancing Doc’. Yes, you read it correctly. Have you ever heard that dancing helps a pregnant woman in relaxing as well as makes the birth process easier?

It might be the last thing on the mind of most soon-to-be mums but videos of Dr. Fernando moving and shaking with pregnant women on the maternity ward have proven a hit online. He believes in it and he makes his patients dance and makes the birth process easier for them. Not only can it help ease the pain, it can be a much-needed distraction.

The doctor created a sensation when his videos went viral on social media. He was seen dancing with the patients on ‘Despacito’ and more songs at his hospital. The video was posted by him on his Instagram account.

Even the research proves that dancing does help the pregnant women, however, given the intensity of pain that a pregnant woman experience at the time of labor, they may consider you as stupid if you ask them to dance at that time.

Childbirth can last around eight hours and sometimes much longer, but a study in The New England Journal of Medicine found women who moved about had shorter childbirths. The experts feel that even during the labor pain, a woman should move around.
