The World Environment Day was proclaimed by the United Nation’s General Assembly in 1972 on the 1st day of the Stockholm Conference on the Human Environment.

In 1974 the first ever themed World Environment Day was held, its theme was “Only One Earth”, and in 1987 countries decided to host the day and celebrate it by bringing awareness.

China is set to host the World Environment Day 2019 and its theme is about air pollution.

The country’s government will celebrate the day in different cities, Hangzhou city will host the main event, the city is located in Zhejiang province.
