Having TWO Wives Is Legal And Mandatory At This Place
We all know that second marriage is illegal and crime while living with the first wife. Though it seems a weird kind of law, there is a country where marrying one woman or not marrying anyone is considered as a crime and will be dragged into the jail.
Yes, it’s true.
You have not even reached the spot, but there is a country in this world where two marriages are mandatory. Each and every man in this country have to marry two women. Not only this, if the first wife has a problem with the second, both the women have to go to jail.
It is Eritrea, an African country.
If a man does not marry two men here, he will be called a criminal. If anyone does not marry two women, he will be imprisoned. It will not be a minor sentence, but life imprisonment.
The people here believe in tow marriages because they believe that civil war in Eritrea is going on every few days and to remain alone in such a war, women are not free from any danger. Thus, men are forced to wear two shadiya to protect the women.
According to a document in Arabic, says,
“Based on the law of God in polygamy, and given the circumstances which the country is experiencing in terms of men shortage, the Eritrean Department of Religious Affairs has decided on the following: First that every man shall marry at least two women and the man who refuses to do so shall be subjected to life imprisonment with hard labor. The woman who tries to prevent her husband from marrying another wife shall be punished to life imprisonment.”
On the other hand, the order is because there is an acute shortage of men occasioned by causalities. That is why the government here passed the rule of marrying two women.
