A 30-year-old man from Uttar Pradesh ran over two old women who were related to the 22-year-old Dalit woman he tried to molest in Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh.
Two civilians sustained injuries during the hit-and-run.
In a CCTV footage that was released by the police, the speeding car could be seen hitting the two elderly women.
The 22-year-old Dalit woman said that the 30-year-old man ran over her family members after she did not let him molest her.
The 22-year-old woman also claims that the 30-year-old man, who belongs to an upper-caste, threatened her before he ran over her two relatives with his car.
The Dalit woman also said that the man belongs to a village that is near to theirs.
During an interview with the 22-year-old woman, she said that the man came and asked her to come and sit inside his car. But when she refused, he threatened her and told her that he will be coming back.
The woman added that when the man came back, he hit them with his speeding vehicle. She also said that she saw who was inside the car.
Atul Shrivastava, a senior police officer, said, “We filed a case. But now the family has given a written complaint that a molestation attempt led to the incident. We have included that in the FIR and are trying to arrest the accused.”
The police have arrested the 30-year-old man.
According to N Kolanchi, a senior police officer from Bulandhshahr, the man said that he did not try to molest the 22-year-old woman and added that the women suddenly came in front of him when he was driving.
