[VIDEO] A Homeless Man Hailed As A ‘HERO’ As He Died Saving A Hostage Woman

A 61-year-old homeless man was shot dead who fought with a gunman to save a hostage woman on the steps of a Brazilian cathedral. Police shot and killed a gunman after he opened fire on a homeless man during a hostage situation.

Luiz Antonio da Silva took an unnamed woman hostage for an hour on the steps of Sao Paulo Cathedral of Brazil. A 61-year-old Francisco Erasmo Rodrigues de Lima, who was homeless, rushed to the woman’s aid and tackled with da Silva. Silva and Lima got into a brief scuffle and Silva shot Lima several times, killing him on the steps of the cathedral in front of a crowd of onlookers. Police then opened fire on Silva, killing him’. The woman held hostage has survived.

The gunman,Luiz Antonio da Silva (49) has previously spent 22 years in prison for theft, damage of property and causing bodily harm.
