2-Headed Baby Born With 2 Sets Of Organs Fight For Survival In Intensive Care
Doctors are caring for a 2-headed baby in an intensive care unit after they found out that the baby has 2 sets of organs.
The conjoined twins share one body, however, there is only 1 genital organ, which doctors believe belong to a male.
The incident happened in Samarkand, Uzbekistan.
Dr. Dilshod Rakhmonov said:
At the moment, the baby is in the intensive care unit of our centre. The baby’s internal organs are in double quantity, there is one genital organ, and, moreover, the newborn has two heads. This is a very rare, one in 200,000 or 220,000 cases. Such children can live a long life, they can live up to the age of 30 or 50. But our case is a little more complicated, that is, the bodies have grown together into one. For this reason, we plan to conduct complex checks. Now the general condition of the child is not bad, measures are being taken to treat him.
Dr. Rakhmonov said that the blood circulation in the baby was normal.
He also promised that they will take all measures to ensure that the baby will survive.
Dr. Rakhmonov said that the parents of the child knew that there is a possibility of having conjoined twins before birth.
However, the parents refused to go through an abortion.
The mother gave birth through a Caesarean operation.
The mother is currently under the surveillance of highly experienced doctors in the maternity ward of the hospital.
Dr. Rakhmonov said that the condition of the baby could be the result of a marriage between related people or after being exposed to high radiation levels.
Leading doctors in Uzbekistan were being consulted and foreign experts were also contacted to help doctors save the child.
