15-Year-Old Martial Arts Student Fights Armed Phone Snatchers And Hands One Of Them To The Police

Punjab, India: A 15-year-old martial arts student was caught on cam fighting an armed phone snatcher and handing him over to the police.

Little did the phone snatchers know that the girl that they were about to rob was a Taekwondo practitioner.

The video of the incident, which happened on August 30, 2020, is currently viral on social media.

Kusum Kumari, the 15-year-old girl, was returning home from her classes when 2 men riding a bike attacked her.

The incident happened in Jalandhar, Punjab.

A CCTV footage that was shared with the public shows Kumari dragging one of the men out of their bike despite the fact that they were armed.

The girl manages to pull one person down and soon after, bystanders in the area came to help.

During an interview with a local news agency in Jalandhar, Punjab, Kumari said that she was going home when the incident happened.

She said that the accused men tried to snatch her phone but she didn’t let that happen.

Kumari added:

However, I resisted and held his hand. Following which I followed them … and grabbed the pillion rider’s t-shirt. He later hit me and attacked my wrist …. But I … dragged him from his bike. A few minutes later passersby rescued me and held the snatcher. I got my phone later.

When asked if she was scared, Kumari said that she didn’t feel anything because she knows Taekwondo and had been learning the martial art for 3 months now.

Kumari sustained some injuries from the incident and was admitted to a private hospital.

The accused was handed over to the police afterward.

The other accomplice of the robber, who managed to get away, is currently being tracked down by the authorities.
