A 4-year-old girl was raped by a 28-year-old man in Basti, Uttar Pradesh, on October 4, 2019, when the kid went out of her house to see the Durga Puja.

On October 4, 2019, the 4-year-old girl, whose identity was not shared with the public, went out of her house in Basti, Uttar Pradesh, to take a glimpse of the ongoing Durga Puja.

The man reportedly took the girl to a secluded area and raped her.

Locals saw Vinod Giri, the primary suspect, raping the 4-year-old girl and they managed to capture him for some time.

While waiting for the police to arrive, Vinod managed to escape.

The 4-year-old girl is currently admitted at a hospital in Basti, Uttar Pradesh, and is expected to be released in the upcoming week.

Senior Police Officer Pankaj Kumar of the Basti Police said the accused managed to escape the scene before they arrived.

IG Ashutosh Kumar, a senior police officer, said a team has been formed to track down Vinod Giri, and assured that the rapist will be placed in jail as soon as possible.
