The death toll is continuously rising due to Swine Flu in India, this year alone, 169 people have passed away, and 4571 people are noted as positive for the said virus. Rajasthan has 40 percent of the swine flu cases.

A data that was released by the Rajasthan Government showed that there were 1,911 people who were positive and 75 deaths were recorded. Gujarat came second with 600 people positive and 24 deaths recorded.

The third highest with swine flu cases in Delhi, it has 532 positive people in Swine Flu. There have been no reported deaths in Delhi so far.

The state of Punjab has reported 27 deaths with 174 people positive in the virus, followed by the state of Haryana with 8 deaths and 372 people positive. Maharashtra has reported 12 deaths and has 82 people positive.

As the numbers are constantly rising, the Health Ministry has conducted a meeting to enhance the surveillance that will allow them to have early detection of the virus. They also added that hospitals should keep the beds reserved in order to be ready.

The Health Ministry also added that states that are having the virus outbreak have not yet demanded any drugs, diagnostic kits, and other necessary equipment that can help them deal with the situation.

The Health Ministry said: “There is sufficient stock of swine flu drug Oseltamivir and also there is no scarcity of N95 masks and diagnostic kits. Further, states have been asked to issue advisories to people mentioning the dos and don’ts.”

The government of Delhi has issued an advisory as the numbers of cases are rising in Swine Flu.

In the Advisory, the government said that the H1N1 virus is a virus that can be passed on easily from person to person. You can transmit the virus if you cough and sneeze, indirect contact by touching a contaminated object or surface (fomite transmission like telephone, cell phones, computers, door handles, doorbells, pens, toys etc) and close contact, including handshaking, hugging and kissing.

In the dos and do not’s, the government Highlighted that it is important that you cover your nose and mouth when you are coughing and sneezing, it is also required that you wash your hands frequently with soap, you should also avoid crowded places.

The advisory also included that a person is required not to touch eyes, mouse, or nose with their unwashed hands, it is better if you don’t hug, shake hands, or kiss when you greet someone. The government also said that avoid spitting in public areas, disposing of used tissue papers or napkins in open areas.

In 2018, India reported a total of 14,992 cases and had 1,103 deaths due to the Swine Flu.
