Indian-American Avi Gupta Wins $100,000 In 2019 Teen Jeopardy Show
Avi Gupta, an Indian-American teenager, wins $100,000 in 2019 Teen Jeopardy show. The Teen Jeopardy is the most-watched individual quiz show in America.
Avi is from Portland, Oregon, and graduated high-school after he won the contest.
Gupta beat out three Indian-American teenagers that were also taking part in the contest.
The Teen Jeopardy Show had a total of 15 contestants in the contest.
The 2018 College Jeopardy was won by Dhruv Gaur, who is also an Indian-American teenager. He won the cash prize of $100,000.
Nihar Janga, an Indian-American teenager, won the 2019 National Geography Bee. The National Geography Bee is a knowledge test about geography.
After Gupta won the contest, he said, “It still feels unreal, and I honestly can’t express how grateful and fortunate I feel to have had this opportunity.”
He added, “Jeopardy! has always been a huge part of my life and my family’s life; it’s a special bonding connection with my grandma, who is a huge fan.”
The mother of Avi also explained what she felt after her son won the contest, she said, “As a mother my heart was beating 100 miles per hour. I think the thing about Avi is his perseverance. For him, I could see the effort he has put in throughout the year, so I wanted to just have him have a happy wholesome experience. And the win was the cherry on top.”
