Indian Man Commits Suicide After Losing $110,000 In Online Mobile Poker Game
A 39-year-old man from Rajkot district, Gujarat, committed suicide after he lost Rs. 78 Lakhs in an online poker game.
39-year-old Krunal Mehta committed suicide by jumping into a well located in the Mota Mava area of Rajkot on the evening of October 2, 2019.
Locals found the dead body of the 39-year-old man floating in the well on the morning of October 3, 2019.
Vikram Vanzara, a police officer from the Rajkot Taluka Police Station, said their investigation revealed that Krunal committed suicide after he lost Rs. 78 lakh, which is equivalent to USD 109827.90.
It is reported that Krunal borrowed the huge amount of money from his family and friends and lost it all in PokerBaazi, an online poker game.
Krunal Mehta was working in an IT (Information Technology) Company and would often borrow money from his colleagues and family so he could play poker.
It is reported that he usually lost huge sums of money while playing poker.
Officer Vikram Vanzara said Krunal linked his bank account with PokerBaazi.
Vanzara added, “After Mehta’s death, his brother received an email with bank transaction details. This gave a break-up of the money that was deducted as he went about losing several games in succession.”
The police have officially launched an investigation for the case.
Currently being considered as a suicide case, the cyber cell is also investigating the case.
