A 24-year-old woman, who worked as a ragpicker, was stabbed to death by her neighbor in Uttar Pradesh’s Modinagar.

The body of the woman was found near a forest in Kadrabad village of Modinagar.

Neeraj Kumar Jadaun, the Superintendent of Police, said Reena, the woman, was living with her husband in the shanties of Jagat Puri Colony when the incident happened.

The husband reportedly approached the Modinagar Police Department after his wife did not return back home.

Gautam, the husband of Reena, launched a search party, who caught Suraj, a ragpicker, and blamed him for the disappearance of Reena.

Officer Jadaun said Suraj, the ragpicker, admitted to the police that he killed the woman because he wanted the jewelry that she was wearing.

Suraj, the ragpicker, also claimed that he was in a relationship with Reena.
