New Delhi: Air India SATS Employee Arrested In IGI Airport For Smuggling Gold Bars Worth Rs. 26 Lakh
The Customs Officials from the Delhi Airport arrested 2 people, which includes an AIR India SATS Employee for smuggling gold bars that are worth over Rs. 26 lakhs.
The AIR India SATS is a company that consists the Air India and SATS, two different companies that are working as one and are offering end-to-end ground handling services such as baggage handling, cleaning services, and cargo handling services.
On August 3, 2019, the customs officials at the Indira Gandhi International Airport detained a passenger that arrived at the Terminal 3 of the airport.
The passenger was detained by the officials at the multilevel car parking and was brought into the arrival hall with his baggage.
During the search, the officials found 4 gold bars that are worth Rs. 15,03,277 lakhs and weighed 466 grams.
The passenger said that he handed 3 gold bars that are worth Rs. 11,29,071 to the employee, the gold bars weighed 350 grams.
The three gold bars that were handed to the employee were found in a washroom that is located near the Arrival Gate 11 and 13.
The police have arrested the 2 men.
The gold was seized under Section 110 of the Customs Act.
