A teenage girl was sexually assaulted by her father who was out on bail after he spent years in prison for raping and impregnating his other daughter.

The announcement was made by the Meghalaya Police on Friday.

According to reports, the incident happened near Dalu in the state’s West Garo Hills district.

The 45-year-old father was reportedly arrested in 2016 after he allegedly impregnated his elder daughter, who was 16 years old at the time.

The 16-year-old daughter gave birth to a child and went on with her life by moving to a new place.

The man was released on bail a couple of months back after his wife pleaded in the court that he was the sole bread earner of the family.

After the man was released from jail, he was arrested again for sexually assaulting his younger daughter.

The leaders of the community got to know about the incident, so they informed the Meghalaya Police and arrested him again.

MGR Kumar, the superintendent of the police of the West Garo Hills, said, “These kinds of ghastly acts cannot be accepted in a civilized society. The father was arrested after we received information. We will ensure that such criminals are not allowed to go back to the society.”

According to the police, the father confessed that he sexually assaulted his younger daughter.

A case has been filed against the father.

An investigation has been launched against the father.
