Rapist Who Managed To Escape From Court Toilet In Goa Arrested In Bengaluru

Man who is accused of raping a 42-year-old Tourist from England has been arrested again after he managed to escape from judicial custody last month.

30-year-old Ramachandra Yellappa managed to escape from the toilet of the court last month during his court hearing.

Yellappa is accused of raping a British national who was in Goa.

The British national said that Yellappa raped her near the Cancona Railway Station in South Goa.

The spokesperson of the Goa Police said, “A team of officials from Margao town police station has arrested the accused Ramachandra Yellappa in Bengaluru based on a tip-off.”

Yellappa managed to escape from the toilet of the court complex when he was being escorted to a trial court in Goa last month. He was supposed to attend the hearing of the charges he was facing.

Last year, a 42-year-old British Tourist was raped and robbed by the man while she was returning to her guest home from the Cancona Railway Station.

The woman said that she was raped and robbed near a public road.

The rape incident has sparked outrage in the state as it is considered as one of the most famous tourist destinations in the country.

Women rights activists and women in the state are questioning the state government about the safety measures for women in the state and tourists who visit Goa.
