Shimla: A 19-year-old student from Bangladesh, who was studying at a private university in Shimla, was found dead inside his rented room in the city.

The police are currently considering his death as a result of suicide.

Aizazul Islam, the 19-year-old Bangladeshi student, is the son of Shohidul Islam, a politician in Bangladesh, who lost in the parliamentary elections of the country last year.

19-year-old Islam was studying BBA (Bachelor of Business Administration) at the AP Goyal University.

Umapati Jamwal, a senior police officer of the Shimla Police, said, “A case has been registered under section 174 (police to inquire and report on suicide) of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC). We have also written to the Bangladesh Embassy.”

Officer Jamwal added, “We did not recover any suicide note from the spot. A few people had sent him photos on a social media website, which are being examined.”

The body of 19-year-old Islam has been sent for an autopsy, which will reveal the cause of his death.

The body of Islam is currently being kept at the Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital.
