Swine Flu death toll rises to 226 In India, the virus caused the death of 31 people in last week alone, as of now at least 6,000 people have tested positive, Rajasthan tops the list with having 34 percent of the total cases.

According to a data that was released by the Union Health Ministry, Delhi had the third number of swine flu cases after Rajasthan and Gujarat, which is now sitting in the second place with having 1,011 cases, 479 new cases were recorded last week.

3 deaths were recorded in the Safdarjung Hospital, 10 deaths in Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, and 1 death in AIIMS due to the viral disease, these deaths do not reflect in the data that was released by the Union Health Ministry.

6,601 people were tested positive after going through screening procedures in the whole country, the ministry data also showed that 2,030 cases were recorded in the last 7 days.

Rajasthan recorded 85 deaths and had 2,263 positive people till Monday, Gujarat was third with recording 43 deaths and 898 people being positive and was followed by Haryana that recorded 2 deaths and had 490 people positive in the said virus.

The data also showed that Punjab recorded 30 deaths while having 250 people positive in the swine flu virus, it also showed that Maharashtra recorded 12 deaths and had 138 people positive in the virus.

With the numbers increasing constantly, the health ministry has asked every state that is affected to increase their surveillance so that they can detect the virus earlier and also have enough space to hold patients that are affected with the said virus.

The ministry added that the states that are affected have not yet demanded any special diagnostic kits, drugs, or help to deal with the fast-spreading virus.

All hospitals and health facilities have received the guidelines and prevention measures that help them with the management, isolation criteria, risk categorization, and vaccination.

The health ministry said: “There is sufficient stock of swine flu drug — Oseltamivir — and there is no scarcity of N95 masks and diagnostic kits. Further, states have been asked to issue advisories to people mentioning the dos and don’ts.”

In 2018, India recorded 14,992 swine flu cases and 1,103 deaths that were caused by the outbreak.

The government of Delhi has released an advisory that mentions all the do’s and don’ts. A panel of the health department of Delhi is also examining the death cases that were caused by the swine flu in a number of hospitals.

The advisory states that the H1N1 also known as swine flu is a self-limiting virus, airborne disease that can be spread from one person to another through catching someone’s sneezing and coughing droplets, physical contact that includes hugs, kissing, and handshaking.

The do’s say that when someone sneezes its better if they cover their mouths with tissues or hankies that will prevent the virus from spreading, washing your hands with water and soap frequently, by avoiding those places that are crowded, stay away from physical contacts, and drinking plenty of water.

The advisory also said that a person should not touch the eyes, mouth, or nose if your hands are not washed properly, and if you are greeting someone make sure that you don’t hug, shake hands, or kiss them. In addition to that, it also said that prevent spitting in public areas, and don’t throw used tissue papers or napkins in open areas.
