Arbaaz Khan lost 2.80 Crore in IPL Betting Scam

Ever since IPL started back in 2008 incidents like betting and spot-fixing has become common in these games, yet another case has surfaced in which Arbaaz Khan lost 2.80 crore due to IPL betting.

 

 

Bollywood actor and film-maker Arbaaz Khan who allegedly lost 2.80 Crore in IPL betting and was not paying the amount, admitted that he used to place bets during Indian Premier League or IPL matches, the police have said. Arbaaz Khan, 50, has told the police in Maharashtra’s Thane, where he is being questioned today, that he has been placing bets for the last six years.

 

In his statement Arbaaz Khan said
“My statement has been recorded. Police asked whatever they needed in this investigation and I answered them. I will continue to cooperate with them”.

 

Officer Pradeep Sharma who is investigating the case stated after he brought both Arbaaz Khan and the bokkie Sonu Jalan
“We called him. We took his statement. He has cooperated with us,”

 

 

Sonu Jalan who according to police is country’s top bokkie worked for a kingpin of betting who goes by the name of “Junior Kolkata.”
It is said that Sonu Jalan has links with Karachi-based terrorist Dawood Ibrahim. Sonu was arrested before in the year 2008 for betting.

 

Police had busted four people on May 15th including Sonu Jalan which later on lead to a connection between him and Arbaaz Khan. Sonu had a diary in which he kept all the records of clients and bookies.

 

Jalan who failed his SSC examination was running betting racket from almost a decade, previously he used to sell automobile parts started betting 16 years ago, and sooner he came in contact with big bookies and made a name for himself in business.

 

He used to bet in different countries as well as Pakistan, Afghanistan, Dubai and Sri Lanka.

 

 

According to a video, Jalan was threatening Arbaaz Khan which Arbaaz to police said he didn’t remember the incident.
The names of big bookies and celebrity have come up only time will tell how deep this betting racket goes and how many people were involved in this IPL betting scam.
