Astonishing Video Shows Fearless Young Antelope Repeatedly Charging At Leopard In Bid To Escape

A fearless young antelope was caught on cam charging at a leopard repeatedly after it failed to escape the predator in South Africa, in the most recent astonishing video.

Andre Fourie, a safari guide at the Kruger National Park in South Africa, captured the video after he was told that fresh leopard tracks were spotted near the Royal Malewane Lodge.

Fourie and Juan Pinto, the director of the lodge, followed the footprints of the leopard.

The two ended up finding Mondzo, a leopard, sitting near a young nyala.

In the video that was shared with the public, it showed the nyala walking within the woodland as the big cat watches before leaping forward and head-butting the deadly predator.

The antelope even tries to attack the leopard in the video that was shared.

The antelope can be seen striking the leopard, but the wild cat simply rolls over and bats the tiny little fella with its deadly paw.

The leopard gets back to its feet, and still, the nyala continues to charge at the animal as it tries to escape death.

The leopard starts to stalk the nyala as it starts to run at its foe before turning around and to escape again.

The leopard refuses to let the young nyala run away and follows slowly behind as the animal continues its efforts to escape.

In the second video that was shared by the 2 men, it showed the leopard chasing the nyala through the woodland.

The animal was later pinned on the ground before it got picked up by the leopard.

Talking about what happened, Fourie said, “While the nyala’s only instinct was to run, it was not nearly fast enough to actually get away, so the leopard just kept trotting behind it almost as if it found it amusing.”

He added, “As soon as the nyala realised it wasn’t going to get away, it turned to the leopard and approached it slowly almost as if seeking comfort in its keeper. This did not last very long though. The nyala quickly came to terms that the leopard was a predator and instead turned from flight to fight mode!”

The leopard killed the nyala before leaving the area.

Fourie said one of his guests wanted the baby nyala to escape.

Fourie added, “One of [my] guests hoped the baby nyala would escape as soon as the leopard started losing interest, but we know that nature and wildlife do not have the same emotions we have as human beings.”

He continued, “If the nyala had by some miracle escaped and survived and made it back to its mother, she would have rejected him and cast him out anyway, because he smelt too much like a predator.”

The video shows the amazing yet horrifying side of the wild.
