Black Bear That Went On Rampage Shot To Death For Attacking 4 Elderly People And Police Car In Japan

A black Japanese bear that went on a rampage had to be shot to death after it attacked 4 people and a police vehicle.

The incident happened on Friday (October 16, 2020) afternoon.

The police were forced to shoot the animal after it attacked 4 people.

The 4 people that got attacked by the bear are around 50 to 90 years old.

The black bear also caused severe damage to a police vehicle that was responding to the calls of the bear attack.

A 95-year-old man and a 63-year-old woman were severely injured when the animal went on a rampage in Hakusan, Ishikawa Prefecture.

While 2 male hunters aged 57 and 72 also sustained injuries after encountering the beast following the attack.

It was also reported by local news agencies that the bear rammed into a police car and used its claws to slash open the tires of the car amidst the chaos.

The police were patrolling the area in search of the animal after reports were first made in early that morning.

A black bear was seen spying near a shopping center.

After attacking the police car, the bear ran inside a house, where it had to be shot dead by hunters.

The animal weighed over 100 kilograms and was around 1.3 meters in length.

The local government in Ishikawa had to raise the bear alert to the highest setting for the first time in the last 10 years.

The black Japanese bears are mostly found on the Honshu Island, Kyushu Island, and Shikoku Island.
