Caught On Cam: Woodpecker Fights 10-Foot Snake To Save Eggs

In one of the most horrifying videos that you will ever see in your life, a tiny woodpecker could be seen confronting a 10-foot snake to save her eggs.

The video, which was originally filmed 11 years ago in Peru, went viral again on Twitter after it was shared by Susanta Nanda, an Indian Forest Officer (IFS).

While sharing the video on Twitter, Susanta Nanda said, “All the forces on this planet, will never beat that of a mothers love. Woodpecker saving its chicks after a fierce air duel with the snake.”

In the video, a crimson crested woodpecker can be seen fighting a snake that came out from a hole in a tree.

The video shows the bird repeatedly attacking the snake despite the fact of getting bitten at least 4 times during the epic battle.

Each time the snake tried to attack, it could be seen falling to the ground.

According to Metro News, the incident originally happened in 2009.

The video was captured by Assaf Admoni, an Insraeli Tourist that was on a holiday at Peru.

The video was originally posted on YouTube, where it has over 8 million views.

During an interview with Metro News, Assaf said, “We think the snake was looking for eggs or chicks and the woodpecker arrived to find it had moved in while she was away.”

Assaf added, “It really looked like the female was acting frantically out of maternal instinct. She just kept racing up the tree and attacking the snake on its side.”

On Twitter, the video has over 17.6 thousand views, 393 retweets, 1.4 thousand likes.

Reports suggest that the woodpecker in the video died while it was fighting with the snake.
