Dog Gets Adopted By Oil Rig Worker Who Found Him Swimming 135 Miles From Thailand Coast
Members of a Chevron crew saved a dog that was seen swimming 135 miles from the coast of Thailand.
Vitisak Payalaw, an offshore planner, was the first one who saw the fuzzy brown puppy swimming in the open sea.
During an interview with CNN, Payalaw said:
I thought that if we didn’t move quickly, I would not be able to help him.
As a rescue mission was carried out, the water became choppy, however, the crew managed to keep still and was rescued properly.
Talking about the dog, Payalaw said:
His eyes were so sad. He just kept looking up just like he wanted to say, ‘please help me.’
The workers managed to rescue the dog with a rope and harness. They reportedly pulled him to safety.
After bringing the dog up on the ship, they cleaned him up, gave him fresh water along with good food.
The crew also named the dog “Boonrod”, which means that “he has done good karma and that helps him to survive.
The dog that got rescued was later identified as an aspin, a dog breed that is native to the Philippines.
It remains a mystery on how the dog managed to get so away from the waters.
It is believed that the dog may have fallen off from a fishing trawler.
On April 15, 2020, Boonrod was sent to the mainland, where he got veterinary care before being transferred to an animal.
On his page on Facebook, Payalaw said that a vessel transported the dog to onshore and was given professional care.
The overall condition of Boonrod improved right away and is getting stronger day by day, said the post of Payalaw.
The good luck of the puppy did not stop there.
Because Payalaw became so attached to the dog, he said that he will be adopting the dog if no one claimed the ownership of the pooch.
As he was still working, the kind man had to wait 10 days before being reunited with his new best friend.
No owner came forward to claim Boonrod, so the dog became an official member of the Payalaw family
During his interview with the Dodo, Payalaw said:
I’m very very, happy with my new dog. He’s a good dog for me and a good dog for my family, too.
Payalaw is not married, so for him, Boonrod is like his son.
This is such an amazing story.
