Just heartless.

Thugs in Puerto Rico tired firecrackers to the testicles of a dog and set them alight before mowing the pooch by a car.

Pure evil, I must say.

Demetrio, the dog, was found on the Caribbean island of Puerto Rico.

The dog wandered through the streets for a bunch of weeks, said reports on the internet.

The dog was rescued a couple of days ago by Rabito Kontento, an animal rights group that translates to “Happy Little Tail”.

According to the group, the dog is currently fighting for its life.

The vets that are treating Demetrio suffered a necrotic infection of the scrotum, which led it to be full of worms.

Rabito Kontento spokeswoman Sharon Deliz said that the injuries that the dog sustained were a result of firecrackers being tied to the testicles of the dog.

The dog was also run over by a moving car.

The dog also had heartworm, which is a type of parasitic roundworm that is capable of causing severe lung diseases, heart failure, and other damages in vital organs.

The incident has been reported to the police, but no one has been arrested so far.

Sharon talked about the horrible crime and said:

It is horrible that a person could do such a thing. If someone did that to him, it was because Demetrio probably approached them for food or affection and got close enough that they could catch it and tie the firecrackers on its genitals. For being a good pooch, it was abused and injured. For being a good dog, it has suffered incredible pain.

The organization is currently asking for help from the public so they could get Demetrio treated.
