An elderly woman in Brazil is currently recovering at a hospital after she was hospitalized following a horrible attack.

The woman was reportedly attacked by a swarm of 10,000 angry bees.

The woman was pictured being treated in a hospital.

The woman who is around 72, was treated at a hospital with anti-venom drugs after hundreds of stingers covered her face.

Some of the dead bees, who have been identified as African bees, nestled inside her hair.

The woman was fishing in the Tigrinho River, which is located in Britania, in the state of Goias, with 2 other elderly women, who are aged 65 and 71.

The 3 women failed to notice a bee colony when they were fishing in the river.

They ended up disturbing the insects, which were resting on a column.

After a number of minutes, the women were being attacked by thousands of angry honey bees.

Motorists that were driving past the bridge spotted the women being attacked, so they contacted the authorities right away.

2 officers rushed to the scene and were stung by the bees as they tried to rescue the women.

Sergeant Valdivino de Oliveira, who helped save the victims, was interviewed by local news agencies after the incident went viral.

Sergeant Oliveira said:

By the time we arrived one of the women had already fainted. She didn’t have any more strength to fight. She had been bitten all over her body, but her head and face were the most affected.

The 3 women were reportedly attacked for around 10 minutes.

The police were not wearing any special gear during the rescue mission, which forced them to spring into action right away.

Sergeant William Costa Silva and Sergeant Oliveira risked their lives to pull the women to safety.

The officers went to the scene in their car and pushed the women inside the vehicle.

As the women were inside the car, the officers opened the windows so the bees could escape.

After arriving at the hospital, the staff treated the women and ended up removing multiple dead bees from their hairs.

The elderly woman that got stung mostly is currently at the hospital, recovering from the bee bites.

The 2 other elderly women have been discharged after being given medication.

The police officers that helped the 3 women were also released by the medical staff 24 hours after the incident.
