Extremely Rare White Wild Boar Is Spotted In A Forest In Romania

An extremely rare white wild boar has been spotted in a forest in Romania.

The Wild Caras-Severin NGO shared the stunning footage that was taken on November 17, 2020, on social media.

They shared a picture of the boar eating with other boars.

It suggested that the boar was part of a family.

While sharing the images, the group said:

Dear friends, as we told you on other occasions, in nature surprises do not take long to appear. The other day we caught a white (albino) wild boar on video. It seems that it is a rather rare phenomenon in our country, it is the second case that we have ever encountered here.

Teodora Stinculet, a biologist, saw the pictures of the boar and confirmed that it was indeed an albino one.

Teodora said that the wild boar has a white color caused by a genetic defect.

During an interview with Adevarul, a local news media outlet, Teodora said:

There are two hypotheses. One is that this is a genetic defect and the other is that it is an albino.

The white color that the wild boar has is caused by a genetic mutation.

Talking about the condition of the wild boar, Teodora said:

Albinism is a congenital disorder characterised by the complete or partial absence of pigment in the skin, hair and eyes due to the absence or defect of tyrosinase, a copper-containing enzyme involved in the production of melanin.

At one point in history, the white boar was the personal badge of English King Richard III of England (1452—1485, reigned from 1483).

Such an amazing thing to discover!
