Feral Hogs Steal $22,000 Worth Of Cocaine From Drug Trafficking Ring In Italy

It looks like police dogs in Italy are going to get fired after their job after feral hogs managed to steal cocaine worth $22,000 from a drug trafficking ring.

Feral hogs in Italy managed to take down an entire drug operation in Tuscany recently by finding a stash of cocaine that is worth around $22,000.

The stash was found hidden in a forest.

As part of the investigation, authorities had placed a wiretap on members of the suspected drug gang.

Investigating officers were tracking their calls and listening when they suddenly heard something that sparked their interest.

While the authorities were listening to their calls, a specific call talked about the damage that was caused by feral hogs.

The police said they heard the gang complaining about how a group of feral hogs broke into a sealed package of cocaine that was hidden in Tuscan Forest, near Montepulciano, before they scattered the contents through the woodland.

After hearing this complaint, authorities managed to dismantle the entire smuggling operation.

Authorities, later on, arrested 4 people, which include 1 Italian and 3 Albanians.

The gang first came to the attention of the police during an investigation into the murder of a 21-year-old Albanian in May 2018.

Authorities found that a group was funneling drugs from Perugia to various provinces, which includes Arezzo and Siena.

The investigation spanned from September 2018 to March 2019.

The investigation found out that a gang member was selling drugs through a nightclub in Arezzo.

The police said suspects traded around 2 kilograms of cocaine every month, and the gang was netting from $90 and $120 per gram.

Everything was going well until the boards dug up and destroyed $22,000 worth of cocaine in the forest.

Wild boars in Italy are mostly found in the countryside.

Farmers in Rome and other parts of Italy are complaining about the animals, who often cause a lot of land damage and road accidents.

Ettore Prandini, the president Coldiretti, a farming association, said, “It is no longer just a question of compensation but a matter of personal safety and it must be resolved. Ministries and leaders of regions and municipalities must act in a concerted manner to draw up an extraordinary plan without administrative obstacles, otherwise, the problem is destined to get worse.”

There are around 2 million wild boars in Italy.
