Incredible Ultrasound Scan Video Shows Baby Shark Wriggling Around In The Womb

Scientists have managed to capture amazing ultrasound footage of an unborn tiger shark wriggling around inside the womb of its mother.

The incident was caught during a conservation project.

The experts had set out to discover why many Tiger Sharks swarm to the waters of the Tiger Beach in the Bahamas.

Using the latest technology, the eight-strong team managed to catch and scan 5 of the massive tiger sharks roaming in the wild in December last year.

Holding the shark close to their boat using straps, the researchers used a portable ultrasound to scan each animal.

The researchers observed the sharks with real-time headsets.

The research will provide experts with insights into the movements of the tiger sharks in the region.

It will also help aid in the future conservation efforts for the tiger sharks.

James Sulikowski, a marine biologist from the Arizona State University, performed the scans on the tiger sharks.

Recalling about the experience, James said, “Performing the scans was absolutely incredible. It’s mind blowing to know I am using technology that was once confined to a laboratory setting to see if a shark is pregnant in the field.”

He added, “To see baby sharks within the mother is like Christmas morning for me, that excitement never gets old.”

He continued, “Its incredibility difficult to keep everything steady sometimes. We often get soaked.”

The team of biologists wondered whether the high number of sharks that are seen around the Tiger Beach at certain times each year was a behavior that is influenced by the human beings.

The Tiger Beach is known as a famous tourist attraction, where tourists purposely feed the sharks so they can dive with them without getting attacked.
