Koala Stops Cyclists To Ask For Water As Heatwaves And Bush Fires Continue In Australia

A desperate koala suffering in 40 degree-heat in Australia decided to approach a group of cyclists so it can get water.

The cyclists that were approached by the koala helped the koala by giving it water from a water bottle.

The incident comes amidst the intense heat and bush fires that are taking place in the parts of Australia.

The cyclists saw the koala in the middle of the road in Adelaide.

The group stopped after they saw the koala, and the animal approached them, appearing to be thirsty due to extreme heat.

Anna Heusler, a member of the cyclist group, said, “Naturally, we stopped because we were going to help relocate him off the road,”

Anna added, “I stopped on my bike and he walked right up to me, quite quickly for a koala, and as I was giving him a drink from all our water bottles, he actually climbed up onto my bike. None of us have ever seen anything like it.”

Bushfires and extreme heat have ravaged the southern part of Australia and the east coast of Australia for the past 2 months.

Bushfires and extreme heat have caused the death of at least 2,000 koalas in Australia.

Dailan Pugh, the President of the North East Forest Alliance and Ecologist, said, Koalas died in bush fries or from starvation and dehydration caused by extreme heat.

Koalas are native to Australia and are considered by many as the most loved animal in Australia.
