“Lucky To Be Alive”: Needlefish Jumps Out Of The Water And Stabs Boy In The Neck

Southern Indonesia: A 16-year-old fisherman in Asia is lucky to be alive after a fish impaled him through the neck while he was fishing.

Muhammad Idul, the 16-year-old boy, was fishing with his family in the waters of Wakinamboro Village when a group of needlefish started to jump out of the water.

Needlefish are marine creatures that have a long snout and tack-like teeth.

Idul, the teen, wanted to take a closer look at the needlefish when one of the creatures hopped into his boat and stabbed him in the throat with its sharp snout.

The fish knocked the teen into the water.

Idul managed to swim back into the vessel and walk home while the fish was still lodged in his neck.

Graphic images show the fish gouged all the way through the back of his neck, exiting out the other side.

The teen was brought to the Southeast Sulawesi Hospital to a facility in Makassar for emergency surgery.

It took a team of 3 surgeons and 2 anesthesiologists to remove the fish’s noggin from the neck.

The surgery reportedly went on for 2 hours.

While the accident was indeed unfortunate, the fish head’s precarious position ironically helped staunch the bleeding.

The 16-year-old boy is currently in a stable condition.

Idul will reportedly stay with the hospital for 2 to 4 days so he won’t face any infection-related complications.
