Massive Elk Knocks Down Man And Woman With Its Antlers Near Colorado’s Rocky Mountain National Park

A video went viral that showed a massive elk knocking down a man and a woman with its antlers near Colorado’s Rocky Mountain National Park.

Wildlife officials are now sending warnings to people and are saying they should keep their distance from elks during their mating season.

Last week, a video went viral and it showed an elk running towards a group of people that were visiting the Estes Park near the Rocky Mountain National Park.

A woman in the video could be seen defending herself by using her feet to fight with the elk and its antlers.

The woman escaped the attack after Brian Berg drove his pickup onto the sidewalk and got between her and the elk.

The angry elk rammed the front of the truck before leaving the scene.

During his interview with KDVR, a local news agency in Colorado, Brian said, “I’ve never had to do that before, but I saw people in trouble and I figured I could get there quick. I knew the best thing for me to do at that point in time was to get the truck in between them.”

Brian added, “I wish people would give them at least a football field length away, especially with the bulls this time of year.”

A man was injured during the elk attack.

The man, whose identity was not shared with the public, ran and jumped out of the way of the elk and hit his head on a rock that was on the floor.

The man was rushed to a hospital in the area, his current condition is still unknown.

Jason Clay, the spokesperson for the Colorado Parks and Wildlife, said the elk fought with the visitors over its breeding rights.

He explained, “We are in the rut (breeding season) and bull elk will very aggressively defend their harems. Bull elk will fight over breeding rights.”

He added, “Let the elk move away on their own, never ever get that close because something like this could happen.”

Jason said people should allow the elk to have its own space.
