A pet owner from China is currently being criticized for forcing his pet dog to stay on the top of the roof of his car without any protective gear as he drove on a busy road.

According to reports, the man did the horrible act because there was no room inside for the dog.

Images and footage of the incident show a black pet pooch standing at the top of a car without any safety harness in Leshan City, a city in the Sichuan province of China.

Upon being questioned by the police, the driver said that he could not fit his pet inside the car because there was not enough room in the backseat.

The pet owner also stated that the dog would not fall off the car because it was trained.

In a video that was uploaded by the Leshan Traffic Police, the pet owner was caught on camera carelessly driving through the city center while his canine standing on the top of the car.

When the black dog was sliding down to the front of the car at one point, the vehicle stopped to let it climb back.

The police managed to track down the driver of the vehicle after getting a tip from a person that saw the entire incident.

The pet owner said that he was taking the dog to a veterinary clinic for an injection that day.

He also explained that there was not enough room inside the car.

The resident added:

I was worried that the dog would suffocate being inside the trunk, but I had stuff piled in the backseat that day.

It is unclear if the man was punished for his selfless actions.
