Security Guards Brutally Beat A Dog Trying To Take Shelter During Heavy Rains In India

A stray dog, who was just trying to find a place where it can keep itself dry, was brutally beaten by security guards of a building in Worli, Mumbai last week.

The incident has caused outrage on social media platforms and celebrities from the industry and even politicians are against the cruel act.

Reports suggest that the incident happened on July 24, 2019, and was caught by a CCTV in the area.

It is reported that 2 security guards of an apartment building beat the dog after a resident told them to.

Bombay Animal Rights, an animal rights group, brought “Lucky”, the stray dog that was brutally beaten, was brought to a vet clinic in Mumbai.

In a statement that was released by the group, they said, “He squirms in pain when his wounds are cleaned. He is very the skinny and weak and is being given multivitamins and drips due to severe dehydration.”

The statement added, “Lucky is stable but is still critical. He is not strong enough to undergo extensive treatment. He is fighting back.”

Earlier this week, residents of Mumbai protested outside the building.

Aditya Thackeray, a Shiv Sena Leader, tweeted about the incident, he said, “What’s happened with the dog in Worli is not just sad but immensely disturbing. To think that such inhuman behaviour exists towards creatures taking shelter during rain. I would want to see that the man responsible for it is punished with maximum penalty.”

Actress Alia Bhat also tweeted about the incident and tagged PETA, an animal rights group that is known all over the world, Alia said, “Such cruelty is heartbreaking and we need to prevent such incidents by creating awareness among the people we live with.  Let’s allow strays to take shelter in our buildings when it rains and make this the last incident of its kind.”

Anushka Sharma and Sonam Kapoor also shared images of Lucky on their Instagram accounts. The two are also demanding justice for the poor dog.
