6 14-year-old pupils rushed to a hospital after thy accidentally ate cake that was laced with Marijuana, which is also known as Cannabis, at a school in Tilehurst on Friday.

The incident reportedly happened at Denefield School in Tilehurst, near Reading, on December 13, 2019.

According to the West Berkshire Council, a student brought cakes onto the school premises and handed the cake to a small number of friends.

The student that brought the cakes to the school was removed from the school as a result of the incident.

The local authorities said the students were initially treated at the first aid facility of the school.

The students were then admitted to a hospital in the area as a precaution.

According to reports, the cake contained “cannabis” and is a “cannabis-related product.”

The incident left the secondary school staff concerned by this isolated and unprecedented incident.

The West Berkshire Council said the incident can be referred to the police.

The spokesperson of the West Berkshire Council said, “The school has an extremely robust drugs policy and takes drugs education very seriously.”

The spokesperson added, “The school’s trustees, the headteacher and the whole school staff are absolutely committed to the safety and welfare of students.”

Dominic Boeck, the councilor for education of the West Berkshire, said the staff did the right thing when the incident came to light.

Dominic added, “It’s an important lesson to learn that we need to continue driving the message to young people that drug and alcohol abuse is a significant threat to all of us.”

Edwin Towill, the headteacher of the school, said a meeting was done with the parents of their pupils 3 days after the incident happened.
