An 87-year-old grandmother managed to get a man jailed for 13 years after he attacked her and she chased him away with a military Russian sword.
According to reports, the grandmother was struck over the head and was beaten up in the violent incident.
Anastasia Lukianchikova, the 87-year-old grandmother, woke up to the sound of a smashed glass at around 3am and saw 28-year-old Ashley Riley standing at her bedroom door.
The incident happened in Acton, West London.
Riley, who is the father of 2 kids, used a cobblestone to smash the front window.
He also hit the elderly woman over her head and punched her a number of times during the incident.
Along with that, he pulled her nightgown over her face.
One thing that the man did not know is that the elderly woman was tough as a rock.
The woman fought back by hitting him with a lamp.
Riley then smothered the face of the elderly with a pillow and tried to suffocate her.
The man then got away with £50,000-worth of ‘irreplaceable’ jewelry, cash and heirlooms in the attack.
As the robber was going out, the woman chased him with her husband’s military sword.
Riley said he was high at the time and does not remember attacking the woman.
He was jailed for 13 years on Monday.
He pleaded guilty to robbery and possession of a weapon.
Judge Sarah Paneth told the Isleworth Crown Court:
There’s no doubt Mrs Lukianchikova was not going to give in easily. Far from cowering in her room, Mrs Lukianchikova – with immense courage – followed you down the stairs, having armed herself with her husband’s military sword. By the time she got there, you were making your way out through the front door. I have little doubt part of the motivation for this brutal attack was to stop her from shouting for the police.
The incident happened at around 3am on January 31, 2020.
James O’Connell, a prosecutor, said:
One could only imagine what terror must have gone through this lady’s mind. She recalls the defendant shouting out and striking her on the head, before dragging her and throwing her on to the bed face down. He pulled her nightshirt right over her head, leaving her naked and covering her mouth, causing her to fear she would be the victim of rape. She put up what fight she could, sliding down on to the floor from the bed to avoid suffocation.
Talking about the incident, the victim said:
I thought I was going to die. I was in pain and total shock, and was actually very concerned for my life. He began to shout “money, money” and I screamed for help, but this angered him more and he picked up one of the pillows and began to suffocate me in bed. I would like the person who did this to me to go to prison for a very long time, as I don’t want him to do it to anyone else.
Riley was caught on camera doing the horrifying act and leaving the house of the victim.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the victim, may she recover from her injuries fast.
