The chilling crash was captured by the traffic camera.
27-year-old Shannon Vivar, the woman who saved the family from being involved in the car crash, was at the right time and the right place.
Shannon, her mother, and her 3-year-old child were inside the car when the accident happened. Shannon said they were coming home from Walmart when her mother screamed in shock.
Shirley noticed that a Jeep ran through a red light and heading towards a couple with a baby.
Instead of hitting the breaks, Shannon drove right into the Jeep, which stopped a horrible accident from happening.
Shannon said, “I don’t remember if I sped up or pushed the brake, but once I got hit, I was lost.”
The family with the baby managed to get away from the accident, but Shannon was not and sustained a number of injuries.
Luckily, she didn’t sustain non-life threatening injuries, her vehicle was also damaged.
Right after the accident happened, Ernesto Otanez Oveso, the drunk driver of the Jeep vehicle, tried to flee the scene and even tried to stab the people who saw the accident.
Ernesto was arrested by the police for suspicion of driving under the influence and has also been charged with aggravated assault, being a prohibited possessor of a firearm, and four warrants.
Shannon says she doesn’t consider herself to be a hero.
She said, “Even though it wasn’t my intention to, the way I see it was, it was meant to happen that way.”
