There were multiple shell casings on the floor of the residence and on the driveway to the residence. A box of ammunition was found on the floor of the bathroom where the suspect was seen going with his firearm.

The other son of River paid tribute to his mother on Facebook, where he said:

Mom I will be everything I promised you and much more … I love you so so so much.

According to the arrest report, Rivera fired his weapon at a third person, who managed to escape.

The sister of Smith confirmed that the third person who managed to escape was the second son of her brother.
