Pakistan Plane Crash: CCTV Footage Shows Pakistan International Airlines Plane Crashing Into Residential Houses

CCTV footage that was shared on social media shows how the Pakistan International Airlines flight crashed into residential houses as it tried to land at an airport in Karachi.

Footage that was shared on Twitter shows Airbus 320, which had around 107 passengers and crew aboard, shows the plane losing altitude and hitting one of the buildings tail first.

A huge explosion could be seen within a couple of seconds, emitting a large mushroom cloud of thick black smoke emerging from the crash site in the densely populated residential area of Model Town, which is around 1 kilometer away from the airport.

Around 7 people survived the plane crash.

Passenger Muhammad Zubair was one of at least two passengers who survived after the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) Airbus A320 came down in a residential area.

Health authorities in the Sindh province said that 97 deaths had been confirmed.

The exact cause of the air crash is still not known.

The pilot had reported a technical fault after one landing attempt failed.

As the plane came down, the pilot distressed a mayday call.

The incident comes a couple of days after Pakistan allowed commercial flights to resume after the coronavirus lockdown was eased.

Some Information About The Passengers

Flight PK8303, which is an Airbus A320 carrier, was carrying around 8 crew members and 91 passengers.

Most of the passengers were families that were traveling ahead of the Eid holiday, which is going to be celebrated tomorrow.

It was trying to land at Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport at around 14:30 local time, when it came down.

The Survivor

Muhammad Zubair, a passenger of the plane that got out, only suffered minor injuries.

During an interview with Zubair, he said that no one in the plane was aware that the plane was about to crash.

He said that the plane was flying in a very smooth manner.

Zubair said he lost consciousness after the crash.

The survivor said that all he could hear were screams coming from all directions.

Zubair explained:

I could hear screams from all directions. Kids and adults. All I could see was fire. I couldn’t see any people – just hear their screams. I opened my seatbelt and saw some light – I went towards the light. I had to jump down about 10ft (3m) to get to safety.

Nineteen of the 97 dead have been identified by the authorities.

It is still not clear how many residents were killed in the incident.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of the deceased.
