Texas: 23-Year-Old Man Travels 1,700 Miles To Shot 18-Year-Old Gamer Dead Over Online Gaming Dispute
Texas, USA: A 23-year-old man reportedly drove 1,700 miles just to shoot and kill a 19-year-old boy because of an online gaming dispute.
The killer drove back home and committed suicide afterward.
18-year-old Matthew Thane was fatally shot at around 6 am on August 18, 2020, by a man who was wearing a helmet and jeans.
The Flower Mound Police Department in Texas said that the 23-year-old killer drove to Texas from California to pursue the 18-year-old.
A Bay Area police officer said that the suspect set a gas tank alight outside the house of Thane to entice him outside.
The shooter then shot him dead.
The police launched an investigation right away, which revealed that the boy had an online friend.
After looking at the mobile phone data, they found out that the man had traveled from his house in Pleasanton, California to Flower Mound, Texas then back to his house in just 72 hours.
One of the aspects police are looking into is if the killing was related to an online gaming dispute, Flower Mound Police Capt. Shane Jennings said Thursday.
On August 19, 2020, the police went to the house of the 23-year-old, just to find him dead.
SWAT officers tried to get the man to leave his house, but before they could persuade him, the man had shot himself and died.

The identity of the 23-year-old man and the official cause of his death is to be confirmed by the authorities.
