15-Year-Old Cori “Coco” Gauff Defeats 5-Time Wimbledon Champion Venus Williams At Wimbledon  

Cori Gauff, a 15-year-old Tennis Star, deafest 5 Time Wimbledon Champion Venus Williams at the first round of the Wimbledon tournament.

On Monday, the 15-year-old did something that was not expected, Coco Gauff became the youngest to win a main-draw at a Wimbledon match since 1991 when Jennifer Capriati defeated Martina Navratilova.

Coco defeated Williams in straight sets, , 6-4, 6-4.

After the match, the 15-year-old said, “I don’t really know how to feel.”

She added, “This is the first time I’ve cried after a match, after winning.”

When coco entered the tournament, she was ranked at 313th by the Women’s Tennis Association, and Williams, the 5-time Wimbledon champion entered the tournament being ranked at 44th.

This is also the first time that Coco Gauff played in a Grand Slam Event.

Coco talked about what she thought after winning the match, she said, “I never thought this would happen.”

She added, “I’m living my dream right now; not many people get to say that.”

In another upset, Naomi Osaka of Japan, who is ranked the number two ranked player in the world, se last her first round match against Yulia Putinseva from Kazakhstan.
