Watch And Decide: Mushfiqur Rahim Controversial Run-Out Decision
Bangladesh start day 3 of the India vs Bangladesh Test on Saturday trailing by 485 runs and lost their wicket in early overs. Bangladesh captain Mushfiqur Rahim survived a controversial run-out decision referred in his favor by the third umpire Chris Gaffaney, during the second session’s play on the third day of the one-off Test.
On the third delivery of the 50th over, Rahim survived a controversial decision that went in his favor. Shakib sets off for a quick single in the third ball, and Rahim has to dive to get home at the striker’s end. Appeal for a run-out, and it turns out to be a close appeal, with Rahim’s bat hovering in the air despite crossing over the crease.
The throw came into Wriddhiman Saha who wasted no time in breaking the stumps. At the time of Saha disturbing the stumps, Rahim’s bat appeared to be fractionally inside the crease a minor part of it. However, Rahim, having made a desperate slide, held his bat upright. The shoulder of the bat was on the line, suggesting some part was perhaps inside the crease. Tough call for the umpire, but the batsman eventually gets the benefit of the doubt.
